Things to Do at Legoland Florida: A First-Timer's Guide

Legoland Florida Resort sits right here in Winter Haven — a 150-acre theme park built for families with kids roughly ages 2 to 12, about 45 minutes southwest of Orlando. If it's your first visit, the park can feel deceptively big: more than 50 rides, shows, and attractions across 11 themed lands, plus a separate water park and a couple of neighboring parks. Here's how to plan a first trip that actually works for young kids.

Start in Miniland USA

Miniland is the heart of the park — over 32 million Lego bricks recreating New York, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, San Francisco, the Kennedy Space Center and more. There's no ride line, it's a great mid-day breather, and it's the kind of thing kids and grown-ups both slow down for. It's a nice, low-key way to start before the crowds build.

The themed lands worth your time

The park is organized into distinct lands. A few stand out for first-timers:

  • The Lego Movie World — home to Masters of Flight, the park's marquee flying ride, plus Battle of Bricksburg.
  • Lego Ninjago World — Ninjago The Ride, a gesture-controlled ride where kids "throw" fireballs with their hand movements.
  • Lego Kingdoms — The Dragon, a family coaster that's a great first "big" ride.
  • Spaceport 885 — home to the new-for-2026 Galacticoaster, Legoland's first indoor coaster: design a Lego spacecraft, then launch at 40 mph.
  • Duplo Valley — the toddler zone (ages 2–5) with a gentle train, a tractor ride, and splash play.
  • Land of Adventure — ancient Egypt and dinosaurs, one of the more ride-dense areas.
  • Pirates' Cove — Pirate River Quest boat ride and Splash Battle water-cannon boats (expect to get wet).
  • Lego City — the Driving School (ages 6–13) and Junior Driving School (3–5), where kids earn a "license."

Don't-miss rides for first-timers

If you only have time for a handful, aim for the Galacticoaster (new for 2026), Ninjago The Ride, The Dragon, Masters of Flight, and the Driving School. One tip that saves tears: height requirements vary ride to ride, so check heights before you queue so no one's turned away at the front of the line.

Beyond the theme park

The resort is more than the park. Depending on your family and the season, you can add:

  • Legoland Water Park — 14 slides, a wave pool, and a lazy river (seasonal; pack swimsuits and towels).
  • Peppa Pig Theme Park — a separate park that's perfect for the youngest kids.
  • Sea Life Florida Aquarium — a good air-conditioned break on a hot afternoon.

Each of these is its own ticket, so decide ahead of time what's worth adding rather than paying at the gate.

Best time to go, and a few first-timer tips

  • Arrive at opening — young kids tend to fade by mid-afternoon.
  • Weekdays and off-peak weeks mean noticeably shorter lines.
  • In warm months, save the water park for the afternoon heat.
  • Download the official Legoland app for the day's showtimes and ride height requirements.
  • Pair a half-day at Peppa Pig or the aquarium with a full park day for a relaxed two-day trip.
  • Bring refillable water bottles — the Florida sun is no joke.

Hours, ticket prices, and seasonal water-park dates change through the year, so check the official Legoland Florida website for the latest before you go.

Where to stay — minutes from the gate

Here's the part we know best. Instead of a cramped hotel room, our 3-bedroom home in Winter Haven gives everyone room to spread out after a big park day — a full kitchen for easy breakfasts and packed lunches, in-home laundry for wet swimsuits, and free parking right there. We're minutes from Legoland and just 3 minutes from I-4, so you're close to the park and set up for the rest of Central Florida too. Booking direct keeps the rate friendly, and the home sleeps up to seven — ideal for families or two families splitting a trip.
